The Silvermine Room at The New Canaan Historical Society
A Gallery Dedicated to “The Knockers”
When you visit the New Canaan Historical Society, you’ll find The Silvermine Room, a a gallery dedicated to “The Knockers.” This early group of Silvermine artists met weekly in Solon Borglum’s barn and later its members formed the Silvermine Guild.
Since 1889, the New Canaan Historical Society has carried out its mission “to bring together and arrange the historical events of the town of New Canaan, the genealogies of the families who have lived in the town, to form a library and to collect relics and curiosities, to form a museum.” We are honored and proud that they have devoted a room and ever-changing exhibits to the rich history of Silvermine.
