About Us

Silvermine is a State of Mind

Silvermine is an historic neighborhood in Fairfield County, Connecticut comprising parts of Norwalk, New Canaan and Wilton.  The area's unique character descends from its roots as a farming community in the 1700s, then as a thriving 18th century mill center, and finally as a famous art colony starting in the early 20th century.

Today's Silvermine has a reputation as a relaxed and eclectic neighborhood defined more by attitude and atmosphere than by firm boundaries.  As the New York Times put it, "Silvermine is a state of mind."

The Silvermine Community Association (SCA) is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization whose membership consists of hundreds of local residents and friends of the community. This is a place where neighbors happily join together to enhance and protect the quality of life for all of the residents. And also to have a little fun!

For more than 60 years, the SCA has provided college scholarships to local Silvermine students. Besides raising hundreds of thousands over the decades for such deserving students, today's SCA  also works to improve and maintain Silvermine's historic character and natural beauty.  And we sponsor a variety of popular community events, such as the annual Potluck dinner and Silvermine Social.  The Easter Bunny visits our annual Pancake Breakfast, and for as long as anyone can remember, Santa Claus always arrives by antique fire engine to deliver presents to children of SCA members.
